Bossa Nova Bites is a new food business that I am starting
Welcome to the Building Bossa Nova Bites, a behind-the-scenes look at building a brand from start to finish.
For the past few years I have been trying to build a business. i don’t know how to explain it, but I feel like I was built to be an entrepreneur. Have I ever had a successful venture…no! But that doesn’t mean that I’ll stop trying.
Recently I heard someone talking about “failing fast” and it truly resonated with me. When we look at successful entrepreneurs we may think we seen an overnight success but really, we;re looking at someone who has failed several times over but found the one thing that worked for them and stuck with it.
i’ll be sharing posts every day until the launch of my new business: bossa nova bites.
For full transparency, documenting this journey was not my idea, at least not in this particular format. But something seems so liberating about recapping the days events by putting the proverbial pen to paper.
On day 1, I recorded a podcast episode of Income Stream Diaries introducing the topic.
Originally I has planned to do daily podcast updates but now as I sit here two days later I’m like “what was I thinking” 😅 With that being said, you’ll be getting weekly recaps in audio form and written updates every couple of days If I can remember to write everything down.
first 2 days of work
I decided to start this project with an idea/hobby that had popped into my head a few weeks earlier. I had already created the Instagram profile and purchased the domain so I decided to make good use of my money and go with it.
I recorded the 1st episode of Income Stream Diares.
Asked ChatGPT for a daily action plan for launching the business. Chatty gave me some good ideas, but I have been tweaking it over the last few days to best fit my circumstances.
project deliverables
Create social media accounts. I did have a picture previously, but since I redid the branding today I have removed it and need to come up with a social media and marketing strategy.
Purchase domain name. I just have a up a landing page at the moment with a waitlist.
Create branding. I actually quite enjoy getting to fiddle around in design software, so even though I had no idea what I was doing, I enjoyed every little bit of the design process and I feel quite proud of what I accomplished in a day.
Menu & Pricing: Did some thinking about a menu and am pretty sure I have it nailed down to 5, to start with. i also created a pricing calculator to make sure that I am factoring profit when I start to sell.
Product Packaging: I also need to figure out where to source packaging from and I may need to get some labels printed. Last weekend I did go to Direct Packaging but I think I need to see if I can source things wholesale for a better bargain.
Expenses
That’s it for now. I have work tomorrow so not sure how much progress I will make but my aim is to spend at least 1 hour per day getting things sorted in the background until I move into my own space in September. That being said the original date that I mentioned in the podcast episode will have to be pushed back 🤷♀️ That is out of my control so I’m just rolling with the punches.
